About the Designations

To anyone not familiar with Real Estate designations and what they mean, they can look like Alphabet Soup. But the fact is, they do mean something very important when selecting a Realtor to work with in your home buying or home selling process.

These designations indicate that a Realtor has had the dedication and has taken the time to further their education in today's complicated real estate market.

In other words, although they may look like Alphabet Soup, ABR, CRS, SRES and GRI actually add up to spell one very simple idea: COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE!

And after all, isn't that what you want in a person who is going to work with you while you make one of the most important financial decisions in your life?

(ABR) Accredited Buyer Representative

Buyer representation is one of the most important aspects to consider when purchasing a home. Here are a few facts:

How can Buyer Representation Help You?

It depends on whether you want to be a client or customer ... when an ABR? agent represents you, you are the "client" and actually hire that agent to professionally advise and represent you -- much like an attorney or accountant. Your agent is then obligated to work in your best interests to gain the best price and terms for you. Your agent also owes you a full range of fiduciary duties, including complete loyalty and full disclosure. Less than 5% of all realtors hold this designation.

(CRS) Certified Residential Specialist

A designation held by only 1% of all real estate agents Agents will maximize their profit by joining this network of over 35,000 top professionals. CRS Designees complete advanced study in residential listing and selling and meet established production levels. There are different programs based on years of experience.

(GRI) Graduate, Real Estate Institute

Members primarily involved in residential real estate wanting to increase their knowledge and skills in a broad array of technical subjects and the fundamentals of real estate participate in the REALTOR? Institute, graduate program to earn the GRI designation. The program also provides opportunities to develop important business contacts. The GRI is a nationally recognized designation of the National Association of Realtors?.

(SRES) Seniors Real Estate Specialist
