spacer Joe Bottorff, founder and owner of DOC Real Estate, Inc. in Greenwood, IN, has achieved many professional credentials during his career. In addition to being a REALTOR®, Bottorff is a Certified Residential Specialist, Associate Broker, EcoBroker Certified®, Director with a leading eco-manufacturing organization called EcoQuest, International and he serves on the advisory board for the Indiana Chapter of the U.S. Environmental Consortium. But Bottorff side-steps the question of titles and achievements when it comes up. Instead, he says, “What you do every day, and how you do it … that’s what counts.”

Bottorff has had an interesting career combining a ministry in the United Methodist Church with his career in Real Estate. After graduating from Hanover College in southern Indiana, Bottorff studied in England, earning his Doctor of Divinity degree there.

He began his Real Estate career in Indiana in the early 90’s. Prior to founding his own company in 1999, Bottorff was named Realtor of the Year in Indiana. Continuing his successful business agenda, he earned a position for DOC Real Estate as being in the top 10% of all agencies in a 10-county area, known as Metropolitan Indianapolis, in listings and sales. This is quite a coup for an independent company where the MIBOR (Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors) membership list is filled with the ‘big names’ in franchise real estate.

Bottorff still studies hard, just recently earning Certified EcoBroker® status. As the first Certified EcoBroker® in Indiana, Bottorff recognized immediately the importance of being qualified to advise clients and sellers on the “green features” of new homes. His knowledge extends to improving existing structures to make them healthier and more economical for their inhabitants.

“Green awareness is in its infancy,” said Bottorff, “but soon the majority of people will be well enough informed to ask pertinent questions about property they own or want to buy.” Credentials aside, Bottorff is most remembered for his extensive knowledge of Real Estate combined with personal and business ethics unmatched by anyone.
